March 2007

Kick ball day at simei today, under the damned hot sun. But hey, anything for footy! Heh. Remember the days I used to play for hours after school under the sun. Prolly that’s why my skin is so darned sensitive to the sun’s rays nowadays.

Ok, so I ended up on the losing team twice, but hey, its the playing that matters, ain’t it? It’s always good to be on Seng’s team (which is the only time I won).

Okay, a couple of fortunate incidents happened today.

1. Was sitting at munch house and ms eye candy walked right past. PHWOAR!

2. My last bamboo pole full of clothes came into the house just as the first raindrops fell. PHWOAR!

Not forgetting the unfortunate stuff:

1. My external hard disk STILL doesn’t work with the damn desktop. BAH.

2. Windows XP screwed up while I was trying to re-install. BAH.

3. I have nero express, not nero burning rom. Means got to download trial version. 176MB. BAH.

4. Never win 4D again. BAH. Beng, your ‘huat ah’ not zhun leh!

Well, can’t complain too much. I’m fortunate enough as it is =).

P.S. I’ve come up with an outline, and a new tale should be coming very very soon. Watch this space.

Have we really gotten too used to air conditioning, or is it just because of global warming that the weather’s turned hotter?

Read some posts on a bus forum today, and I was appalled when I saw this topic: “I thought all buses in Singapore were air conditioned!!” Common thought, this, given that cars nowadays, and even 10-foot trucks are fitted with air-conditioning.

But is it really necessary to complain about buses being non-airconditioned? I mean, the first fleet of airconditioned modern citybuses weren’t introduced until 1990, when then-SBS started putting out the Scania N113CRB, 50 of them (prior to these, there were a few air-con buses, but never more than a handful, usually converted from old non-aircon chassis like the Mercedes OF1413 and the Leyland Victory).

Leyland Olympian 3-axles, or as you commoners know it, the SUPERBUS, was introduced to great fanfare in 1995 on service 7. I remember cos I pestered my mother to take me to ride on it (I was just 11 or 12 then!!). That was the beginning of the air-con revolution, as older buses made way for newer, air-conditioned models, culminating in today’s Wheelchair-Accessible Volvo B9TLs. Definitely a step in the positive direction, as it is a show of compassion, that we understand that the unfortunate should be given a chance to lead a normal life too. It took some time, but at least the wheels are now turning.

So, do we really want to complain about air-conditioning now?

I wonder.

…I’d been born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I wonder if I’d be what I am today.

…I hadn’t moved west to east, would I have met the people in my life today?

…I’d retained that competitive edge instead of having it eroded by games and storybooks and god only knows what else, would I have been one of them?

…I’d chosen to go to a better JC, would I have done better and gotten into CS in the first place?

…I’d been fitter, would I have made it to the cadet course?

…I’d not been given CE, would I have reached where I am today?

…I’d not been hesitant, would I have found true love?

…I’d not been me, who would I have been? =)

No sexual connotations in this post, so suitable for everyone.

5 things I hate about the trains:

1. Leaners
Sleep on your side, not on me.

2. Smellers
Err, take a shower before you go out?

3. Noisers
Your handphone is for calling and messaging, not for you to irritate one carriage of people with your favourite techno hit.

4. Widers
Ok, not your fault. But I still don’t like being squeezed.

5. Rushers
There are yellow lines, reminders on the trains, public service announcements.
AUNTIE, CAN JUST GET THE F–K OUT OF THE WAY OF THE DOOR SO I CAN GET OFF FIRST ANOT!!! NO SEAT THEN JUST LAN LAN STAND LAH!

Ahh. I feel so much better.

Yeah, I deliberately got that equation wrong. It’s no elementary mistake, I just wanted to show that life’s pretty much unequal after all.

You’re popular as heck, but you’re a pea brain.

You think you’re being smart by asking questions in class, but actually you’re a real pain.

You’re good looking, but you’re disliked more than you’re liked.

You think you’re smart, actually you’re just an asshole.

You think you’re humble, actually you could eat some humble pie.

You think you’re the greatest, yeah you are, in your f**king dreams.

You think you know everything, hey, guess what, you don’t know what I think of you.

(This entry is dedicated to all you assholes out there who happen to chance on this. Thanks for giving me this opportunity to blast you all at once. =))

Oh, and sometimes, 1 + 1 = 2. Only in rare, rare, rare, rare circumstances.

…I got involved in school activities.

…I’m aware of what’s going on during classes.

…I got a cut on my face.

…I made up what I had to present on the fly.

…I did my tutorials but didn’t understand a single thing.

…I read a message late.

…I crapped with someone.

But it was the first time…

…I got posted out of my NS unit.

…I made some small talk.

and definitely the first time:

I was on 12 and I saw the wheelchair ramp in action.
Like that tagline “Together, we go further.”

Wasted it at home trying to decipher the SSAs and thinking of tomorrow’s presentation.

Oh, and the nice hot sun dried all the clothes.

Hope you enjoyed the SP ep.

Too many cars, not enough roads.

Not enough parking lots.

Not enough of everything. Too small lah!

It’s been so long since I felt so committed to a cause.

Seems like it was just yesterday that I was VP of English Drama. Stage Manager. Worked hard, and played hard too. Those were memorable days. You worked, you believed in the cause, you reap what you sow. In that year’s SYF, my little backstage crew worked our socks off, and the club won the Gold Award.

Something you don’t expect when you look at me. Heh.

Since those glory days I haven’t tasted such success again. Nope, not even when I was in service. It was a different kind of bond formed then, but just today, I’m feeling that camaraderie, that old, familiar feeling of achieving something together.

And that, is the NBS Convo Ball 2007.

All 35 tables have been sold as of 4.30pm today, and we’re looking into opening more tables for interested parties. Heh.

Next up, the actual event!

Daily rides: 9666X (21) — What a number!

1. In the queue: eye candy, two places behind, decides to take the other bus.

2. Buses overtake and overtake, eye candy’s bus overtakes and reaches first. Sian.

3. Reubs is late, and the stupid hard disk box still has an active RFID tag which sets off the stupid Sensormatic gates. Bah.

4. Changed the damned hard disk, but my damned desktop has some kinda recognition problem. Bah.

5. Inspired to go buy some 4D, and on a whim, 8862.

Today’s second prize: 2868.

BAH!
